Edward Deming, a 20th Century economist said- “You can’t manage what you don’t measure”.
Translated into the medical practice coding and documentation; if you don’t perform internal chart audits, you won’t know if you are coding and documenting correctly. You don’t know if you missed opportunities or errors and cannot correct them. Missed opportunities and errors can be costly not only lost revenue, but risk of participation in a health plan.
This session with an extended learning lab will prepare your coders and audit staff to perform successful internal audit for E/M coding. Attendees will learn the “who, what, when, where, why and how” of auditing evaluation and management services.
